A Woodpecker Encounter
…what a wonderful way to start the day in Palm Coast!  This morning we had a priceless woodpacker encounter in our backyard! There is this tree that’s been on its way out for a few years.  Many birds including woodpeckers love this tree as they get worms out of it. Today, this big guy showed up to check out what’s in place for breakfast.  I see many woodpeckers around here in...

Here’s a way to look at our additions, daily tasks, and our routine.

Excellent: 10 Dos and Don’ts for Brands on Twitter...
Excellent advice from Jolie O’Dell on Mashable: 10 Dos and Don’ts for Brands on Twitter Here’s the 10 Dos and Don’ts: 1. Don’t Be a Showoff 2. Don’t Use Poor Grammar or Spelling 3. Don’t Get Too Personal I like this next one a lot as I have zero-tolerance for robots and absentee twitterers.  I previously touched upon this in two blog posts: Why Colliding Worlds on Social...

John Mayer: "Twitter Isn't Dead but Tumblr Is Just... →
Last week in Los Angeles I participated in a live Q&A as part of an ASCAP expo on songwriting. When the topic of Twitter came up, I explained my waning interest in it being part of my daily life. By no means do I think it’s over as a medium altogether, but I do think that the days of “Twitter: The…

Pine Lakes / Palm Coast Bike Ride
Lisa and I went for a 6-mile bike ride around Wellington Drive and the Pine Lakes Parkway tonight.  The bike-path City of Palm Coast had put in around the Pine Lakes Parkway has been priceless for many folks.  You can see people walking, running, skating, and biking any time during the day…

Unemployment vis a vis Foreclosures
The other day I was listening to an NPR Radio Show where the host and the guest were discussing the parallel between Unemployment and Foreclosures.  At one point the guest indicated that “if you would get two color coded maps line up, showing unemployment and foreclosures” there would be a complete visible parallel. I found these two maps as of November 2009, and thought they are...

Dream of a Day in Palm Coast, FL
Yeap, today is Monday, April 26th, and it’s a dream of a day in Palm Coast, FL. Clear, sunny skies, fresh, crisp air with a nice breeze… The Confederate Jasmine is blooming: The loquats (Malta Eriği / Yeni Dünya) are ripe! …and my wine is delicious! What a treat!

Uh-Oh! Broken Nazar Boncuk (Blue Eye)...
Shoot! As I was moving an extension cord in the outdoor patio in the house, the Nazar Boncuk (or Nazar Boncuğu) aka Blue Eye, that’s on the wall fell down and broke. Nazar Boncuk (Blue Eye) is a Turkish tradition — a lucky charm which is believed to protect one from the Nazar (or Evil Eye).  It is made out of glass, and it is made to look like an eye, so that it would look...

Houligans in Palm Coast has outdoor seating? Cool!
I hadn’t been to Houligans in Palm Coast a while. I dropped in today for a quick brew and a burger, and I was pleased to see they put in outdoor seating.  Other than McHenry’s at Roma Court, and the Restaurants at the European Village I can’t think of many places in Palm Coast with outdoor seating, which is a shame. We need more venues that offer outdoor seating to enjoy the...

What Exactly is the "Internet Center" in Palm...
Just noticed this big sign while driving to Home Depot on the plaza where Brewsters Ice Cream Parlor and Houligans are located, which reads: “Internet Center” What exactly is this?  I’ve been in “internet business” a while, never heard of an “Internet Center.” Does anyone know?

Lisa was invited to make a presentation on “Online Strategy and Social Media” at a SCORE Seminar taking place at the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce in Palm Coast, and she wanted use mannequins to represent the “customer.” She contacted Kohl’s Department Store in Palm Coast, speaking with the manager, who said he will look into that and get back to her.  Two days...

Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse at Daytona Hilton
Last night (Sat, April 24), we dined at the Hyde Park Steakhouse in Daytona Beach.  It’s a drive from Palm Coast, about 50 minutes, but it’s a worthwhile experience; though a PRICEY one: For a Party of 4, the damage was $300 for the following menu: 2 Lemon Drop Martinis 4 glasses of wine (Australian Shiraz) 2 salads (each couple shared) 4 entrees (two steaks, one lamp-chops, and...

Should I Stay or Should I Go: Orlando Turkish...
First Annual Orlando Turkish Festival is today, April 25, 2010; taking place from 12 noon to 7 pm, at the Lake Eola Park, in Downtown Orlando.  The ride is about one-and-half-hours from Palm Coast, FL.  I’m not decided if I should stay and enjoy a nice Sunday home (and also get a few things done); or if I should I spare 6 to 7 hours of my day to go check out the Turkish Festival...
