First Night at the Plantation Bar & Grill Ormond Beach
Lisa, her parents and I went to check out the newly opened Plantation Bar & Grill in Ormond Beach, FL. The restaurant had just opened on the night of May 14, with a friends and family celebration, which we missed, because we were indulging in St. Augustine for Pete’s birthday.
But we made our way to Ormond Beach, right on their first official night of operation.
For those folks in Palm Coast, “Ormond Beach” may sound like a big undertaking but this restaurant and bar is actually located right off of I-95 at exit 278. Yes, that’s the same exit you would take to go to Old Dixie Highway, the Halifax Plantation and the Plantation Bay Gated Communities, as well as to the Loop.
The Plantation Bar & Grill is now connected to the Plantation Wine & Spirits, located at 3752 Roscommon Drive Ormond Beach, FL.
Plantation Bar and Grill is a brand new bistro, with booths and well considered lighting on one side, and a well-stocked central-bar on the other.
We ordered Hendrix Gin at the bar, and they didn’t have it. That’s the convenience of having a liquor-store next door; the bartender grabbed a bottle right away.
How did we learn about the Plantation Bar & Grill? Our friend Charles Rinek recommended it. Obviously his company Rinek Homes was contracted for the renovations; and I must say that Charles’ team did an impressive job here: The ambiance is great, and the venue is finished like a mature urban bistro; which creates a much needed “look and feel” in our area.
Okay, how’s the food, right? The menu is diverse, and interesting. We ordered a shrimp and artichoke flatbread pizza and a Greek salad (or actually more like a Turkish Çoban Salata) as appetizers. Later we enjoyed a Seabass, a Chicken Parmesan, a Meatloaf, and an Osso Buco, enjoying it all with a bottle of Pinot Noir from Uruguay. All was well.
Prices are reasonable with salads and appetizers ranging from $6 to $11, main dishes varying from $16 to $24, and a decent wine selection from $19 to $30 a bottle. Check for our party of 4 was $150, including the bottle of wine.
I’ll definitely go back to Plantation Bar and Grill…
